Going Back To The Way It Was

January 04, 2024

Not much has been written about the features of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017 sunsetting. And no one can predict what Congress might do in the interim but be aware that if nothing happens, as of 12/31/2025, the following are some of the provision fallbacks that would occur.

  • Estate Taxes – estimated “reversion” would be $6.5 million compared to the current $12.92 million per person
  • Standard deduction doubled but would revert back. In 2017, $12,700 for married filing jointly. In 2023, $27,700 for married filing jointly
  • Yahoo Finance estimates Americans will spend between 1-4% more in taxes due to the increase in tax brackets
