Seniors And Dating Apps – Who Knew?

Recently there were several articles about seniors and dating habits. According to a study done by Anthony Martin of Choice Mutual:

  • More than 37% of seniors dated in the last five years
  • Of those that dated two-thirds used dating apps

Tinder was ranked the highest at 35% with Match at 28%.

Seniors say the best way to meet someone is through mutual acquaintances but the next alternative is dating apps.

Care.com offers some safety tips for dating, especially online dating.

Some Dos and Don’ts:

  • Be suspicious if someone:
    • won’t video chat with you
    • won’t meet you
    • starts asking about your finances
  • Don’t show too much of your interior when chatting
  • Meet in public and let others know where you will be. Consider having someone call mid-meeting to make sure you are okay
  • Don’t let someone pick you up at home
  • Stay sober
  • Listen to your intuition. If something doesn’t feel right, leave
